Natural Pools

What is a natural ecosystem pond?

A natural swimming pool is a balanced freshwater ecosystem.

We recreate your very own rainforest swimming hole complete with pebbles, rock, native plants and freshwater creatures to create a balanced environment.

The water is filtered through a wetland and waterfall.

The pool surrounds are landscaped with endemic rainforest plants.

Lighting is used to create a night time wonderland.

A healthy sanctuary for swimming, wellness and nature adventure.

How does a natural swimming pond work?

In order to operate without the use of any chemicals, just like in nature, natural bacteria colonise all surfaces of the pond including the pebbles in our Flo filter wetland - where the magic happens.

These bacteria convert waste products from the fish and other animals interacting with the pool into nutrients for the plants to flourish.

Less maintenance

Natural pools require considerably less maintenance than a traditional swimming pool once the balanced ecosystem is reached.

Your natural pool doesn’t need chlorine, chemical filtration, pH balancing, or the ‘pool guy’ to perform the many periodic chores that go with keeping a normal swimming pool clean.

  • A sanctuary for connecting with yourself, your partner, your family and friends

  • A wonderful place to detox, unwind and relax in nature

  • A magical place for kids to play and discover the ecosystem

  • A food source. Natural pools can contain edible and medicinal plants as well as fish and crustaceans which can be consumed

  • Constantly evolving natural environment

Having a natural swimming pool supports native species

Having a natural swimming pool in your property contributes to the biodiversity of your local area and helps to restore nature’s balance.

A natural pool attracts a myriad of birds and other native animals for you to enjoy.

The plants in and around a natural pool provide habitat.

A Flo Gardens natural pond is stocked with fish that are endemic to the local surrounds, all of which are threatened or endangered in the wild as there is very few untouched freshwater ecosystems remaining.
